Learning

Mayfield follows the government’s Early Years Foundation Stage to prepare children for school and beyond. We believe that play-based activity provides the best foundation for learning and focus on activities such as arts and crafts, building and design, cooking and group games.

Children are also taken on local exploratory trips, including the library and Tooting fire station, as well as offered other trips out such, as Deen City Farm.

In the PreSchool room (3 to 5 years) there is a greater emphasis on learning basic literacy and numeracy skills to help children prepare for reception class at school. Children are also introduced to ICT skills through the use of a computer and a range of technological toys.

Staff

Mayfield Nursery employs 25 full time and part time staff, all of whom are highly qualified. Each room has a Room Leader and there is an overall manager of the nursery. All staff hold a Disclosure & Barring Service check and there is a rigorous interview process in place.

Staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid and individual medical requirements can be catered for. In addition, the nursery is committed to investing in its staff and ensuring that they keep abreast of any new childcare practices.

We are committed to providing a happy and supportive working environment for our staff to ensure they are able to give the best childcare possible.
