What are your opening hours?

Our opening hours are from 7:30 – 18:00. Monday to Friday. If you want to drop your child off a little later than 7:30 or collect your child a little earlier than 18:00, that’s absolutely fine!

What do my nursery fees cover?

Fees include all meals, snacks. Fees are due in advance and invoices are issued in advance for the following month. Unfortunately, there can be no refunds for sickness or holidays. Fees are calculated based on the 52 weeks of the year that are averaged into 12 monthly payments. Bank holidays and INSET days are payable in full. We are also closed for a week between Christmas & New Year. 

Do I need to let you know if my child will not be attending nursery?

Please let us know as soon as possible if your child will not be attending Nursery as expected. This can be done via email, telephone or by using the ParentsZone App (please see parent partnership page). If your child is absent due to ill health it is important we are aware of any communicable illness. Unfortunately, we cannot refund any missed sessions due to illness.

How do I inform you if I have changed my contact details?

Contact details can be changed via the ParentsZone App (please see parent partnership page), alternatively, you can send an email to info@mayfieldnursery.org.uk.

Do I need to provide nappies etc?

Yes, we ask parents to provide nappies, wipes, any nappy rash cream he/she uses or teething gel. If you would like to use reusable nappies, please just let us know, we are happy for you to bring in your own and we will support your use of them.

Is there anything else I need to supply?

We ask that all Parents and Careers provide a bag with a change of clothes in case we have too much fun and get messy or need a change of clothes extra set of clothes (incl sunhat) and sunscreen. If your child uses a comforter, please bring that in too as it helps to ease into the new transition during the first few weeks. Only bring in a comforter if you have a second one to keep at home!

Are there any registration fees?

We ask for non-refundable administrative fee of £200 to secure your child’s place. This fee goes a little way to cover all the little extras that you receive as a new parent.

How do I book extra sessions?

If you wish to book your child in for additional sessions please send an email informing us of the desired date. We will do our best to accommodate the request, however on busier days it may not be possible.

Will there be a fee increase?

Any fee increases are reflective of any increases in running costs. We will notify you in advance of any increases.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

We offer a sibling discount of 10 percent for two or more siblings in nursery at the same time, excluding children receiving government funded hours. This discount applies for as long as you have two or more children with us and is applied to the oldest child.

Will I be charged when I’m on holiday?

If you are planning a holiday, please inform us of the dates your child will be away, you can do this via email or telephone. Unfortunately, we cannot refund any missed sessions due to holiday.

Do you offer 15 and 30 hour free funded hours?

Yes. Your child may be eligible to 15 or 30 free hours a week, after they turn three years old in line with government’s free funded hours scheme.

Can I book a tour?

Absolutely, we usually hold our tours at 10am it gives parents a chance to see how the nursery operates and to see our big, beautiful nursery in person. To book a visit please enquire on our ‘Contact us’ page.

How much time will my child spend outside?

We have a real passion for outdoor education, at Mayfield Nursery we’re lucky to have such a lovely garden and to have our very own woodland area. We make use of our garden multiple times a day. When the children and babies use the woodland area, they spend the entire day there, yes including naps and mealtimes. More information is available on our ‘Enrichment activities’ page.

Do you operate a waiting list?

If a place is not immediately available for you, you can join our waiting list, with a desired start date in mind. Once we have found a start date for your child, we will ask you to pay a registration fee of £ 200. Once your payment has been received you will be sent an email confirming reciept with the approved start date.

How is availability assessed?

Availability is assessed on a regular basis, taking in to account any leavers or room moves.

Do you offer half-day sessions?

We do not offer half day sessions, we realise that many parents work flexibly, however we do see benefits to children attending for full days as it allows the natural flow of the day to support and reinforce learning experiences.

Is there a minimum number of days that my child can attend nursery?

We offer a minimum of 3 sessions per week and this must either include a Monday or a Friday.

What extra-curricular activities do you offer?

In addition to our core curriculum (EYFS), we offer enrichment activities, which include learning Spanish, French and German, yoga classes, cooking and baking. You can find more information about these on our ‘Learning through Play’ page. Our team plans and delivers stimulating activities to develop children’s creativity.

How often are your parents’ evenings?

They are held twice a year and can be online or over the phone if this is more convenient for parents.

Do you have an Ofsted rating?

Our Nursery has been rated ‘Good’ in our last ofsted inspection. We ensure our standards are checked regularly and work tirelessly to improve our existing practises. You can read the report of our last ofsted inspection here

 

What medication do you keep at the nursery?

We keep temperature relief (Calpol) at the nursery which we can administer only in an emergency.

Do you give medicine to the children?

Please see our medication policy. If your child is to be given prescription medication, we can give these in line with the prescription. Over the counter temperature relief (calpol) will be given if required with permission, only in the case of an emergency.

If my child is ill, do I need to pick them up?

We will contact you if we think your child is too unwell to be at nursery. Please see our sickness policy for information on contagious illnesses and exclusion periods.
